Atlas Cedar is a cedar which is native to Atlas Mountains of Algeria as well as Morocco. It is a pyramidal tree having stunning silvery-blue needles. This tree is very close to the Cedar of Lebanon; however Atlas Cedar can be easily spotted out by "rosettes" or clusters of needles on a short stem.
The oil from this tree is woody, sharper, sweet note as compared to Virginian Cedarwood. The color of the oil can range from deep yellow to amber color. It is more viscous as compared to other distilled oils and has a warm as well as woody scent. Nowadays most of the oil is produced from the sawdust or left over wood chips from the lumber or furniture industries.
